If you like the Velvet Underground you might enjoy the music Beck Hansen and his cohorts created.

If you are a Beck fan he also does Skip Spence's Oar,Leonard Cohen,INXS and Yanni.

It's always worth taking a look at what Beck is up to. For those interested (yeah, there may be one or two...) most of the tracks on Oar feature members of Wilco.

They really broke out a Dylanesque version of Black Angel Death Song. Didn't Reed have a special form of hatred for that comparison? I vaguely recall something along the same lines with Waiting for the Man. Andy's camp vs. Dylan's camp. All for Edie?

They nailed I'll Be Your Mirror, in all it's poppy 60's goodness. What a beautiful love song.

Who is the young woman? She channeled a little Nico for All Tomorrow's parties. I like the subtle German accent at 2:20. Well done. Best cut.

Thanks j.

I did find fault with him not giving proper credit to all the players involved in those projects, unless I somehow missed it,nice heads up on the Wilco guys Rob.The woman who sang I'll Be Your Mirror was referred to only as Thorunn,Micah, and I recall Lou having a problem with the Dylan comparison on Black Angels, but he did write a song that could not be more like a Dylan song if Dylan wrote it,just Lou being Lou,a bit of an asshole.I think Beck did a nice job on all the tracks,a fun listen. It was nice to see Annie Clark from ST.Vincent on the INXS stuff, she is a treasure. As for Beck, you have to love a guy who wrote:
"and my time is a piece of wax falling on a termite
and it's choking on the splinters"

That is a great couplet,

"and my time is a piece of wax falling on a termite
and it's choking on the splinters"
